The practice is now focused on civil litigation including civil rights and personal injury. For many years, Mr. Schmidt represented clients in post-conviction proceedings. From there, he moved to civil rights, specifically civil rights and police shootings, and then onto civil litigation. He still accepts challenging parole hearings and prison litigation issues as time permits.

Mr. Schmidt is an active pilot and member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) and Malibu Mirage Owners and Pilots Association (MMOPA). He serves as a legal services plan attorney for the AOPA with availability in other aviation related disputes. His thousands of hours of experience in many aircraft gives him the pilot’s perspective in FAA enforcement actions and medical certificate issues.
